Arcul mic din cercul mare....
:)
Ortodroma.

Nu am auzit niciodată termenul la TV sau în ziare...

Dar nu e doar ortodroma la calculul carburantului.
Este şi masa totală.
Arzi mai puţin gaz dacă avionul este pe jumătate gol.

Am precizat. In mare.

Iran to buy 114 jets from Airbus

QuoteIran plans to buy 114 civil aircraft from European aircraft maker Airbus (AIR.PA), the transport minister was quoted as saying on Saturday, ahead of the anticipated lifting of international sanctions on Iran.

"We have taken the first step in agreeing with Airbus to buy 114 planes," Abbas Akhoondi was quoted as saying by the Tasnim news agency.

Airbus said it was not engaging in commercial talks with Iran until sanctions had been lifted.

Sanctions were expected to be lifted in the wake of a recent agreement on Iran's nuclear activities later on Saturday, as diplomats gathered in Vienna and Iran said it had freed four U.S. citizens from jail.

"Although Iran clearly has a need for new aircraft, we must conform strictly to the law and, until all measures concerning the embargo are lifted, no commercial discussions can take place," an Airbus spokesman said.

A deal for 114 airplanes would be worth more than $10 billion at catalogue prices, depending on the type of aircraft.

Such a purchase would be in line with the predictions of Iranair, whose chairman told Reuters in an interview 18 months ago that, as soon as sanctions were eased, Iran would seek to obtain at least 100 wide-body and short-haul jets.

Iranian and Western industry officials estimate that Iran, a country of 80 million people, will need a total of 400 or more aircraft in the next decade to renew an ageing fleet that has suffered several fatal crashes in recent years.

For France-based Airbus, its main U.S. rival Boeing (BA.N) and other manufacturers, that could mean an early windfall of $20 billion in deals, while leasing companies may also benefit due to long waiting times.

Some Iranian officials have said the country is ready to place orders for at least 100 jets with both Airbus and Boeing.

While the historic nuclear deal was still being negotiated, with Paris taking a tough stand, French firms were initially pessimistic about reaping the first wave of eventual contracts.

But many firms say contacts have intensified since the July 14 accord and hope for a boost in discussions when Iranian President Hassan Rouhani visits Italy and France later this month.

Iran to buy 114 jets from Airbus

Si probabil asta e doar prima comanda dintr-o serie.

Exact la aia ma refeream, ca intra Iranul pe piata, dar asta e offtopic!

First A320neo delivery opens new era in commercial aviation

QuoteLufthansa becomes launch customer of best-selling A320neo

The Lufthansa Group, Airbus' largest airline customer and operator, marks a major step in aviation history today by taking delivery of the first A320neo, the world's best-selling and most fuel efficient single aisle aircraft.

Equipped with all new technology Pratt & Whitney PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ engines, the A320neo sets a new, even higher standard in aircraft efficiency, reducing emissions and noise as well as burning 15% less fuel than current generation aircraft from day one and 20% less by 2020.

"We are happy that today we are the first airline worldwide to receive the Airbus A320neo. Featuring the leading technology of Airbus and Pratt & Whitney, the A320neo is by far the most efficient and most silent aircraft on short- and medium-haul routes.

With lower fuel consumption and consequently lower CO2 emissions, the A320neo has a clearly improved environmental performance. Furthermore, the new jet engine technology makes the aircraft considerably quieter. As a result, we have ordered a total of 116 aircraft of this type for the airlines of the Lufthansa Group", states Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG.

"Today we prove once again that as an aviation company and airline group we are pioneers in the development and introduction of technical innovations. In this year alone the Lufthansa Group will receive a total of 52 new aircraft, a number we have not received in years", says Spohr.

"Pratt & Whitney congratulates Lufthansa as the launch customer for the A320neo aircraft powered by PW1100G-JM engines," said Robert Leduc, Pratt & Whitney President.. "Airbus and Lufthansa have been important customers for Pratt & Whitney for many years. With the A320neo's unprecedented reductions in fuel burn, emissions and noise, I am confident that these business relationships will have continued success for many years to come."

"Handing over the first A320neo to a world's leading airline and long standing Airbus customer, Lufthansa, is a truly great day for everyone at Airbus," said Fabrice Brégier, Airbus President and CEO. "This occasion marks a new step forward to delivering on our promises and meeting our industry's goal for sustainable aviation. The A320neo embodies Airbus' passion and commitment to deliver maximum value and efficiency to our customers through continuous innovations."

The A320neo Family incorporates the very latest technologies including new generation engines and Sharklet wing tip devices. With almost 4,500 orders received from nearly 80 customers since its launch in 2010, the A320neo Family has captured some 60 percent share of the market.

Last year Lufthansa celebrated its 60th anniversary since it started operations in 1955. In this period, Lufthansa Group's Airbus orders have reached a combined total of 582 aircraft including 386 A320 Family, of which 116 are NEOs (71 A320neo and 45 A321neo). The full range of Airbus wide-body aircraft have been or will be a part of Lufthansa's fleet from the innovative A300/A310 to the iconic A380 (14 in service), the versatile A330 to the modern and extra-comfortable A350 XWB (25 firm orders).

A350-1000 to enter final assembly next month

QuoteAirbus is expecting the first A350-1000 to enter the final assembly line in February, with first flight set to take place by the end of this year.

The aircraft is at the pre-final assembly stage and chief operating officer Tom Williams says its development is progressing relatively smoothly.

"It's coming together really well, probably better than the -900," he told Flightglobal during a briefing in Paris on 12 January.

Williams says the work on the -1000 has benefited substantially from the design experience of the -900, although he points out that the larger aircraft has encountered "a few hiccups".

These include snags in the wing development as a result of the supply chain. While Williams declines to elaborate, he stresses that the issue was not design-related but largely centred on provision of brackets and similar components.

"We seem to have worked through [these problems]," he says.

Airbus chief executive Fabrice Bregier says the airframer is aiming to have the initial aircraft – powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines – in final assembly during February.

He adds that the first flight of the aircraft will be conducted in the fourth quarter.

Airbus had secured orders for 181 A350-1000s by the end of last year.

While the airframer has been looking at the potential for a larger version of the -1000, chief operating officer for customers John Leahy says the case has yet to become clear – even though Boeing's 777-9 will have some 35 more seats than the -1000.

"The jury is still out as to whether the market is asking for more seats in this category, which is why we haven't rushed into the marketplace just yet with [an A350] stretch beyond where we are today," he says.

Leahy says the -1000 has "economics that work very, very well", adding that the type will be an "unbeatable airplane".

Lufthansa Takes Ceremonial Delivery of its First Airbus A320neo

QuoteLufthansa, together with Airbus and Pratt & Whitney, celebrated Friday the delayed official ceremonial delivery of the world's first A320neo. Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Lufthansa Group, Airbus President and CEO Fabrice Brégier and the President of Pratt & Whitney Robert Leduc invited 700 guests and media staff to the official delivery at Hamburg-Finkenwerder.

Following the handover, the first two aircraft were presented to the attendees. The first A320neo, registered D-AINA (MSN 6801) has already flown scheduled service since January. The second neo is expected to join the fleet soon. According to Spohr, the initial experiences with the A320neo have been positive, confirming that the 15 percent lower fuel consumption mark was not only achieved but also slightly exceeded, despite of existing technical glitches. "We are very grateful to Airbus and PW, and will be even more so once teething problems are fixed!" Spohr joked.

The CEO of Lufthansa was not the only one to talk about the PW 1000G issues. Fabrice Brégier, Airbus President and CEO, announced that the company will ramp up the deliveries once the problem is solved.

At the present time, the permanent solution proposed by PW implies a hardware fix that has already been implemented. However, a required software update will be completed in April. The technical issue is known to cause engines to run in idle during three minutes before taxi. Last December, Qatar Airways, which was supposed to be the launch operator, declined to take delivery of the aircraft under such technical constraints.

Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo would now become the second operator to receive the A320neo. Last December, the carrier was notified of delays in the delivery due to "industrial reasons." According to Brégier, the delivery is subject to "customer confirmation."

"We are opening a new chapter in commercial aviation, and I am confident that the A320neo will support Lufthansa's objective to raise its environmental performance. The A320neo not only cuts emissions at every operational stage but also halves its noise footprint compared to previous generation aircraft," The CEO also announced that the 15% mark achieved to date will be taken to 20% by 2020 as the program matures.

This week, the first CFM-powered A321neo flew for the first time. Brégier announced that the PW variant is due to fly in March.

After the presentation, the A320neo took off from Hamburg- Finkenwerder in a special flight with flight number LH9917 with guests and media staff bound to Frankfurt, with a short stopover at Hamburg's Fuhlsbüttel. The aircraft was adorned with a special logo. "First to fly A320neo – Less noise. Less fuel. Less CO2" placed at the rear fuselage.

Currently, Lufthansa has ordered a total of 116 A320neo family aircraft to be delivered in the next years. The airline is also getting ready to take delivery of its first A350 at the end of this year. According to Spohr, the German carrier is expected to receive 52 new aircrafts during 2016.

FAA will allow the A350 to fly up to 5 hours from the nearest airport on one engine

QuoteThe US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the Airbus A350-900 for ETOPS (Extended-range Twin engine aircraft Operations) 'beyond 180 minutes' diversion time. This approval means that when the first FAA-affiliated operators start to take delivery of their A350s in 2017 they will be able to serve new direct non-limiting routings, compared with a standard 180 minute ETOPS diversion time. It also means that now the A350 XWB is approved by both EASA and the FAA for beyond 180 minutes ETOPS.

This FAA approval, which includes 'ETOPS 180min' in the basic specification, also includes provisions for up to 'ETOPS 300min' – corresponding to a maximum diversion distance of 2,000 nautical miles (nm) at one-engine-inoperative speed under standard atmospheric conditions. Later this year, once the type accumulates additional in-service experience, it will be granted a further provision for 'ETOPS 370min' from the FAA, which will extend the maximum diversion distance up to 2,500nm.
The ETOPS 300min option will, in particular, facilitate more efficient transoceanic routes across the North and Mid-Pacific – such as from South-East Asia to US, and Australasia to the US. Meanwhile, operators flying on existing routes (currently flown with up to 180 minute diversion time) will be able to traverse straighter more fuel efficient flight paths with lower CO2 emissions, while also allowing access to more en-route diversion airports if needed.

First A330neo starts its final assembly in Toulouse

QuoteAirbus has commenced the final assembly of its first A330neo, an A330-900, at its Final Assembly Line in Toulouse with the joining of the wings to the centre fuselage at station 40.

As the newest member of the world's most popular A330 wide-body family the A330neo builds on the Family's proven economics, versatility and reliability, set to reduce fuel consumption by a further 14 per cent per seat. Both the A330-800 and A330-900 feature a new A350-inspired wing with Sharklet wingtip devices for state-of-the-art aerodynamics, incorporating latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, and the new AirSpace by Airbus cabin for the latest experience in cabin comfort.

"We have started with a very tight development schedule and are today right on time," says Odile Jubécourt, Airbus Head of the A330neo programme. "I am happy to say we are in good shape to meet the high standards of maturity and reliability our customers expect from us and I want to thank the teams for this outstanding achievement."

Thanks to its low, new generation fuel-burn, the A330neo expands its operators' market opportunities by offering an additional 400 nautical miles range, leading to a 6,550 nautical miles range on the A330-900 and 7,500 nautical miles on the A330-800. To date, 10 customers have ordered a total of 186 A330neo.

The A330-800 and the A330-900 are 99 per cent common, sharing a  95 per cent commonality across the entire A330 fleet, set to optimize costs and flexibility for all its operators. Airlines will also benefit from the Family's market-leading reliability and reduced maintenance costs.

The A330 is the most popular mid-size wide-body aircraft ever, having won over 1,600 orders to date. Today, over 1,250 aircraft are flying with over 120 airlines worldwide on a wide range of routes, from domestic and regional flights to long range intercontinental services.

Offering the lowest operating costs in its category, and due to continuous investments in latest innovations, the new generation A330neo is the most profitable and best performing aircraft in its size category.
